The end of the Mandalorian

One week ago, The Mandalorian ended, which made me a bit sad.
This may or may not be apparent, but I really like wandering stories, faceless characters, big vast spaces that echo loneliness. As a matter of fact, I drew the first five pages of this comic more than two years ago, and part of what started me again for good last April has been that show. It erased most of the doubts I had concerning the tropes I wanted to use, and simply gave me even more inspiration, to do something I like, to do it well, and to DO it.
I’m thankful for all it has bought me, and I will continue to cherish it (a.k.a. regularly bring it to the dissection table for extensive study^^).
Most of all, you maybe wouldn’t be there without it! If you haven’t seen it, this is a show I recommend, and if you have, I would be curious to know what you thought of it, and of its end.
I wish all of you a great end of 2020 🙂
Glad you started the comic, glad to be here. Haven’t watched the show yet! (but it’s high on my list)
Glad to have such an enthusiastic reader 🙂
🙂 I just want to take a moment here on an out of character thread and say that if the in-character stuff is ever too much, please do let me know. I will do my best to always be respectful of your lore and worldbuilding and to refrain from pushing the established boundaries of it too much without at least giving you ways of contradicting me.
I really appreciate that you have taken the time to actually respond to my bizarre comments in turn, it’s made the whole experience of this comic that much more incredible for me, and that much more exciting to share with my friends. Thank you.
Also, while I’m at it, have you thought about creating a Patreon (or other such form of donation site) where people like myself who love your work can offer you compensation for it?
There, it’s published for now, with somewhat placeholder visuals, what do you think? https://www.patreon.com/thelittlewarrior
(maybe you’ve not recieved an alert for my other, long answer)
Hey, no sweat, it’s also up to me to establish those boundaries, and I wouldn’t have put up a “Lore” menu if I didn’t want to be at least a bit shaken out of my comfort zone. It can sometimes be a bit much and I’d lie if I told you I didn’t approach both your earlier messages without taking a big breath first. But I honestly liked it and, hey, delving into strange worlds without knowing if we’ll get footholds right away is why we’re here, aren’t we? 😉
So, I thank you for your concern, but you can be sure I won’t make myself uneasy to answer you : either I’ll be totally fine with it, either I’ll tell you and draw a line, either I’ll not aswer because I don’t have the time, or maybe if I’m not fine at the moment I’ll delay my answer.
I don’t want to make my readers uneasy by maybe being uneasy and so make an uneasiness spiral that rips all the ease from the world. Let’s leave that to other, more boring parts of our lives^^.
The few readers who’re there are really swell, and I find this whole roleplay/lore debating dynamic that’s being set up really interesting! It inspires me and I really want to cultivate that. Thank you for being a big part of it 🙂
To answer your other question, I have been setting up a Patreon, which is being refined and refined while I wait for more readers to come. Today I wanted to add some illustrations to it, maybe I can show it to you afterwards, see what you think?
…(And, to correct what I’ve said in the post, it seems like The Mandalorian hasn’t ended and I simply got their unclear messages wrong^^)
The Patreon visuals are wonderful! (and on theme) I’m assuming you intend to push them toward the same style as the comic itself with time? Either way, it certainly works for now.
One note – if the comic gets wildly popular, which I certainly hope it does, you may want to change the traveler tier at some point, since it sounds like the amount of work (inserting OCs into the comic) could escalate quickly.
Okay, I had only seen part of it – and now I’ve finally read through the entire thing. I stand by what I said earlier about the traveler tier (unless of course you plan on doing a whole bunch of crowd scenes!) But otherwise, this is a fantastically well made Patreon site, with (as always) spectacular illustrations and clear documentation.
You’ve outdone yourself again.
I shouldn’t be surprised, at this point. But I am.
Wow, haha thanks^^ I should have time to finish this next week, and then publish it for good given there’s already people who’re interested!
And don’t worry about Tier 3, I see crowds in the comic’s future^^.
