I’d like to do many more pages like this one, featuring only large sceneries, but fear a bit there wouldn’t be enough action… still figuring out ways to manage the two together!

I don’t think this is realistic. You have the horizon crossing the sun. Typically, having seen sunrises and sun, the effect isn’t quite like this.
Here is a comparable picture.

As you can see, the sun kinda splits the horizon then kinda disappears into it.
Hello, thank you for your input! π I think I see what you mean, (the sun should change shape?) I thought this effect happened mainly when it was close to the horizon, on humid days. Here, the horizon is lower (close to the smaller, more distant mountains on the left) and the sun just goes behind the big mountain + clouds.
I’ll research this! π I hope you like the comic, feel free to point any other thing that troubles you.
Ok, I’ve done my research and I’m at a loss with what the problem is. What I’ve drawn seems fine by these standards : https://scienceblogs.com/files/startswithabang/files/2013/02/equinox_090922_ladanyi.jpeg
Could you describe in detail what you see and how it differs? I’m not into this to be right, and I’ll edit the page if I feel it’s too ambiguous in the wrong places.
Clouds, or clouds upon glaciers?
Heavy, heavy clouds full of ice, trearing up in places.
Bro sunrise is stunning
Thank you very much π (it’s sunset, but no matter, your comment warms my heart!)
I wouldn’t be afraid of doing what you want. One of the most famous Manga artists around, Tsutomu Nihei (author of Blame!) has tons of panels of epic, sprawling landscapes. These things add incredible atmosphere and a sense of the world. Your opening here gives a feeling of vast vistas, isolation and a gorgeous sense of the scale of the universe you’re creating. Would hate to see this stuff cut.
Thank you, these words go right to my heart, and it’s a peculiar feeling to know that you experienced this page just as I intended readers to π I’m not afraid of that anymore, actually! Now that I’m all entangled in a long action scene, I just dream about doing big landscapes again^^ some are coming in the following weeks, I think!
I absolutely love the colors here. Really brings out the rich atmosphere.
Thank you, this is still one of my favorite pages too π
I hope I’ll be able to do another wandering page full of landscapes soon!
